Cookies and advertising

This page explains the site's current analytics setup, its position on advertising technology, and what compliance steps are needed when tracking changes.

Current position

This build uses Google Analytics 4 to measure page usage. Analytics is switched on only after a user accepts analytics cookies through the site's consent prompt.

The site does not currently include Google AdSense, display ad tags, or affiliate tracking scripts.

Analytics and consent

Under ICO guidance, analytics cookies are not treated as strictly necessary. This is why the site asks users to make a choice before analytics storage is enabled. Users can revisit that choice through the site's cookie settings control.

If advertising is added later

Before enabling advertising cookies or similar technologies, the site operator should review UK cookie rules and implement a compliant consent flow. For UK users, ICO guidance says websites using advertising cookies should give people a fair choice over whether they consent.

If Google AdSense or similar advertising products are added, the site operator should also review the provider's current consent requirements for the UK and update the privacy and cookie information before going live.

Affiliate links

If affiliate links are added later, the site should disclose that some links may generate a commission and identify any third-party tracking or cookies used as part of that relationship.
